Access Statement

General Overview
This statement gives a general access overview for guest; if there is anything that is not clear, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We hope your stay at Amberlea is as comfortable as possible, so here you will find a guide lines to our accessibility, and facilities they may assist you during your stay.

Amberlea is a detached house, built in the early 20th century and not built today’s demanding needs , but we are converting to assist guest where we can.

Assistance Dogs
We do not take pets as a rule but we are happy to take assistance dogs with prior knowledge. Please supply suitable bedding for your assistance dog.

In 2005 we upgraded our fire alarm system, to maintain our high standard in fire detection.

All smoke and heat detectors are fitted to all areas of the house, bedrooms ,public areas. They are all audible alarms only.

There is fire advice instructions provided in all bedrooms on the reverse of your room door. We can relate these to guests verbally if requested.

Mobility Access
1) Access to house.

There are 4 parking spaces to the front of the house, which can be on request reserved for guests with limited mobility. There is additional parking to the rear of the house, which can accessed by car by a service road to the rear of the property, but there is a pedestrian access (this is via8 steep steps through the rear garden there is a hand rail to the right side if descending the stairs) via the side of the house. Which is again illuminated to midnight.
The car park to the front has a tarmac base, which leads on to a small path at the house ,up one step going through the small wrought iron gate. Small ramp is available if you want to use the front garden.

The paths around the house are illuminated by external lights, which are on a timer going off at around midnight every night.

The porch is of a small construction, the first door entrance has a step of 5inches, to face the front door, which has another step to enter the main house of 6inches.Floor surface is coir matting.

The hall is airy and enough room for ease of movement in the hall, this has carpet to the floor.

This is carpeted and has 3, 2 seater sofas and 1 upright seats with scatter cushions. The floor is carpeted but with a rug over the top. French doors through to

Dining Room
Leads directly from the lounge, all tables and chairs are of a universal height.

Part of breakfast is laid out on a sideboard and is self-service, if you require any assistance please ask.

First Bedroom Ground Floor
This is accessed from the main hall. The bedroom is carpeted, there is a remote controlled television, refreshment tray, and to the side of the bed is a bedside cabinet with bedside lamps and radio alarm.

The twin bedroom has an en-suite shower room. There is a grab rail to the shower and to the side of the toilet.

The ground floor family room has a grab rail to the bath, with shower on mixer tap.

The flooring is vinyl. The step up to the shower is no more than 15cms.

Flooring is carpet, 4 steps to a small landing, with a handrail to the left. A small landing with a 90 degree turn to the left, a further 12steps to the second landing, a 90 degree turn to the left, last 3 steps. Handrail continues to the left.

First Floor Bedrooms
All bedroom surfaces to the first floor are carpeted; all en-suite bedrooms are tiled or carpet flooring.

All bedrooms have remote controlled televisions, refreshment trays; all rooms have bedside cabinets, which have bedside lamps and alarm clocks.

All rooms are single, double, twin or family. All with personal keys to rooms.

There are steps up to all showers not exceeding 20cms. Several bedroom en-suites have baths with showers over if you would like, a shower not bath please request when booking.

Annexe Accommodation
This is all on one floor to the rear of the property accessed via its own front door, but with use of the house facilities.

The front door has one step to its entry, carpeted flooring, one level through to non cooking kitchen area with tiled flooring, 2 steps into main accommodation

First door to left is bathroom with bath and shower over, no grab rails fitted. The next door to the left is a small private lounge with TV sofa and single armchair.

At the end of the corridor is a bedroom with double bed and bunk beds.

Hearing Impaired Visitors
There is a written menu available for breakfast in the dining room. On arrival guests are always escorted to their rooms, and house information is given verbally. All relevant information is displayed on the wall of each bedroom.

Sight Impaired Visitors
All guests are escorted to their rooms and information given verbally; additional lighting is available on request.

Manager is contactable via the doorbell during 7.30am-13.00pm at all other times there is a phone in the hall with direct dial facilities.
